January 2016 Book Haul

At the end of every month, I usually have a massive (or at least a fairly large) list of all of the books I received and bought for myself during that month. This year, I really want to try and decrease (or at least put a fairly large dent into) my TBR pile. The best way to do this, in my opinion, is to read waayyy more than I buy. I'm not on a book buying ban per se, I just want to buy much, much, MUCH less then I read every month.

With that in mind, I got two new books this month. The Queen of the Tearling I ordered in December and I got it in January, and I had a giftcard so I bought Seeker for myself this month.

Adult:
  1. The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen (Hardcover)
Young Adut
  1. Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton (Paperback)

October 2015 Book Haul

So, this month I got a total of just three books. I wanted to try and read more books than I bought this month, which was successful...but I only managed to read four books. The books I got this month are:

Young adult:
  1. The Clockwork Scarab by Colleen Gleason
Adult:
  1. You by Caroline Kepnes
  2. Marley & Me by John Grogan
The next few months I will most likely to be buying a lot more than three books, so I'm glad that I was able to cut it down this month, because it helps me catch up on my massive TBR pile.

September 2015 Book Haul

This month I realllllly tried to, well, haul it back for my book haul. I got so many more books then I had originally thought I had gotten in August, so I wanted to focus more on reading and school this month, and less on buying, and I think I did a really good job! In total I bought four books in September, and three were given to me.

Non-fiction:
  1. An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth by Chris Hadfield (paperback)
Young adult:
  1. Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid (hardcover)
Adult:
  1. This is How You Die by a collection of authors (Machine of Death #2 - paperback)
  2. The Revisionists by Thomas Mullen (hardcover)
  3. Dead Man's Grip by Peter James (mass market paperback)
  4. The Summer That Never Was by Peter Robinson (two in one book with below)

August 2015 Book Haul

This month I decided to tell myself that I would not pay full price for any of the books that I bought. So, every single book on this list was either at a discounted price, or I found it on clearance. Not the best way of decreasing the TBR pile, but a helpful way for now.

In total I bought 16 books in August.

 Young adult:
  1. Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor (hardcover)
  2. Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass #2 - hardcover)
  3. Nowhere But Here by Kaite McGarry (hardcover)
  4. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee (paperback)
  5. Say You Will by Eric Walters (signed paperback)
  6. Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo (Shadow and Bone #3 - paperback)
  7. Because It is My Blood by Gabrielle Zevin (Birthright #2 - hardcover)
Adult:
  1. Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks (movie tie-in paperback)
  2. The Movement of Stars by Amy Brill (paperback)
  3. When You Walked Back Into My Life by Hilary Boyd (paperback)
  4. The Crook Factory by Dan Simmons (paperback)
  5. The Book of Madness and Cures by Regina O'Melveny (paperback)
  6. Starter House by Sonja Condit (paperback)
  7. Red Rising by Pierce Brown (paperback)
  8. Parasite by Mira Grant (hardcover)
  9. Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult (paperback)
I usually get more books than this every month, but I tried to tell myself that since I have one year until I leave for university, I need to read more and buy less. Hopefully I will continue with that plan next month, but I keep telling myself that and it never happens!
